Week 14:

Mountaineers Crush Cajun’s to Claim Share of Conference Crown

Louisiana-Lafayette (5-7, 4-4) 14
Appalachian State (8-4, 7-1) 63

At halftime one thing was clear, Appalachian State wanted their share of the Sun Belt Conference Title. The score at the half was 35-7 Mountaineers. In the second half, the onslaught continued. App State poured on another 28 points to stretch the final advantage to 63-14.

In his final, game at Kidd-Brewer Stadium, Taylor Lamb went out with a bang. The Calhoun, GA native completed 17 out of 22 pass attempts for 242 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 87 yards and a touchdown on five rush attempts. Over Lamb’s four seasons as App State’s starting QB, the Mountaineers are 19-5 at home.

On the ground, aside from Lamb, freshman Daetrich Harrington and junior Jalen Moore were unstoppable. Each carried the ball seventeen times apiece, Harrington racked up 118 yards and touchdown and Moore totaled 110 yards and two touchdowns.

“When I think back to five years ago, we were 4-8,” App Head Coach Scott Satterfield said. “And then four years ago, we step into this conference and started out 1-5. But since that point, it has been a great journey.

NCAA MBB Top 25 Polls (12/4)

NCAA MBB Top 25 Polls (12/4)

Though nothing changed in the top four of either poll, there was still plenty of shuffling throughout the top 25. Over the past week, the ACC/Big 10 Challenge took center-stage. The fourteen game interconference showdown featured a collection of quality non-conference games. However, the ACC flexed their muscle and took the Challange convincingly 11-3 in one of the most one-sided ACC/Big 10 Challenges to date. Despite Minnesota and Michigan State, the Big 10 looks extremely weak early in the season. So does the Pac 12. After Arizona’s free-fall last week, USC took a nosedive of their own this week. With Florida, Texas A&M, Kentucky all in the top 10, the SEC looks stronger than usual. Duke has a stranglehold on the number one spot in both polls. They look ready to take on a loaded ACC. No more, babbling here’s this week’s NCAA MBB Top 25 Polls (12/4).
